Mortal Kombat 1 Fans Pull Geras Move To Get Season Skins

By Kevin KellyNovember 22, 2023
Mortal Kombat 1

Unlocking game skins and items by progression. At this point, that sentence feels a bit nostalgic compared to the cosmetic paywalls now.  Thanks to eagle-eyed reddit users and the internet, using hardware to get back removed content from games has been a practice for a while now.

Mortal Kombat 1 seemed to push us back into that fateful period, according to IGN. Invasion Mode skins, that were available during the progression of the Invasion gameplay, are now available through the-game premium currency Dragon Crystals. Waiting another season if these were missed seemed to be the move planned by Netherealm.

Twitter /x user IscreamFGC has sound the alarm, warning players to use a workaround to get previous skins through the exploit of changing back time.

DO NOT BUY THIS 🚨🚨🚨

ALL Last Seasons Items can be purchased by changing the date on your PS5 to any date BEFORE 6th November!

Load up ur game, buy all of last Seasons items & u can complete last seasons Mesa! When u done change date back to PRESENT day & u keep EVERYTHING! https://t.co/R8yJbG6gzh pic.twitter.com/fOzABSNaKo

While his example works on PS5, other users have commented that this works on other ecosystems, too. Others have claimed that different dates helped with the exploit. Completing the previous season’s Mesa being a common factor.

As for the hotfix, at the time of this writing, the issue has not been addressed yet by Warner Bros nor Netherrealm Studios. Warner Bros has no comment on this so far. This coming off of the heels of the seasonal fatalities costing actual money. The bundle included Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Winter Fatalities. Right on time for American Thanksgiving and Christmas, too. That Thanksgiving one was clearly a full plate.

Happy Thanksgiving 😋🍗🐲
