Many were surprised when Capcom dropped the first trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. Yet, as the team behind it revealed not too long ago, they wanted to continue this spinoff series because they wanted to keep pushing it into the RPG genre. Today, we learned of the story for the game, and it’s one that plays upon the RPG stylings, while also telling a new tale entirely. In this case, twin Rathalos are born, and many feel it’s a “portent” of doom. They attempt to kill one, but it’s taken by a rival nation.
The one that remains is befriended by a princess, who becomes “The Princess Ranger.” Her journey is the one we’ll follow, including meeting various characters along the way that’ll aid her in her quest. Just as important, though, is that multiple kingdoms are in danger from a threat that is petrifying everything in its wake, including the very monsters of the land.
What is causing this? What does this have to do with the Rathalos? How will the princess overcome the disaster and save the realm? These questions and more will be answered when Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection arrives on March 13th, 2026.
