Arc System Works released the opening movie for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls and it’s a douzy. Anime studio Sanzigen took on the role to bring the Marvel characters back to anime life like it’s the early 2000s. It’s as though they saw Marvel Disc Wars and X-Men: The Animated Series’ anime intro and tried to top it.
Some notable items such as Norman Osborn taking on the President of the United States role ballot, JJ still out for Spider-Man, and other members of the X-Men being present. Captain America does get the first crack at undermining The Champion in his own domain. Of course, it’s them vs. the threat in the most anime-like intro we’ve ever seen.
The song “Stronger as One,” features powerhouse vocalists Keiko Terada (SHOW-YA) and mayu (NEMOPHILA), with lyrics by Kanata Okajima and music composed and arranged by MEG (MEGMETAL).
Here comes a new challenger!
Meanwhile, someone else was revealed to be the first DLC character. It’s Scott Summers, but… different.
Phoenix Cyclops is the new character to jump into the fray as part of the DLC pack. Hailing from the books of Avengers vs X-Men, the leader of the X-Men might have some choice tactics to use in order to “save mutantkind”. Especially ones from his new Phoenix abilities.
No gameplay has been revealed yet minus his intro at the Xaivier School of the Gifted. Usually, Cyclops is a shoto-clone with an uppercut and fireball special. So, what will he be in this new Marvel fighter? We’ll have to wait and see.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls releases on August 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
