Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has garnered many keen fans who believe it is the second coming of Marvel vs. Capcom 2. With several updates and the like showing face, there’s no doubt this might be true. Fans were able to test out the new 4 vs 4 tag fighter at Evo USA 2025 last weekend, and some were blown away. However, what came after the demo on the floor will probably surprise most.
Marvel Tokon will be supported on PS5 and into the PS6 generation 👀

Most fighting games receive around 5-7 years of dev support, such as balance patches, new mechanics to the system, new movesets, new characters, etc., before they decide to move on to the next sequel. Updated versions and double dips to drum up new players could emerge as new sub-versions. Arc Systems promises to go further than that.
According to producer Takeshi Yamanaka, via Shinkensou, during the Evo panel, Tokon will be getting at least 10 years of support. With a property such as Marvel, it’s not a difficult thing to fathom. Marvel vs Capcom 2 set the bar for tag-team fighting games with a roster of 50+ characters within a few years after the original game, which lowered the bar from Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite reduced the size to 30 with a 2-man format.
For the next 10 years, we plan to keep making this game the best experience ever.
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 was released with about 50 characters, yet it only held about a year of support from Capcom post-launch. Tokon might be attempting to surpass this with just the 80-year franchise as its base and Arc System Works as the brainchild, including newer ideas for mechanics as well as a slew of balance changes per new character or every so often.
Marvel vs Capcom 3 developer Eighting could probably teach Arc devs a thing or two about Marvel tag fighting if they can take a break from Hunter x Hunter Nen Impact. Arc System Works has stated in the past that the dev teams are different from the Guilty Gear or BlazBlue sides, so the dedication is there.
We’ve seen what companies can do with the roster on its own for Marvel titles. With Arc System Works’ track record to back it, the hype is real, and anything is possible, true believers. No character is too obscure or overpowered to become a fighter.
If this is true, this would mean that Tokon’s support will bleed into another hardware generation that should be forthcoming – the PlayStation 6, which might not be too far behind, according to leaks. Tokon itself will make Evo 2026 tournament appearances and possibly the Arc System World Tour as a competitive title.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will be having a Beta test from September 5th to 7th on PlayStation 5.
