Limited Run Games Announces New Shantae Title!

Ready to "Dance Through The Danger" once more!

It’s always amazing to me which video game characters endure “longer than they should,” or make an impact so quickly that they take over the gaming space. One such character who has had an enduring legacy, despite all the ups and downs that her franchise has seen over the years, is Shantae. The beloved Half-Genie Hero has had six adventures over the years across a variety of platforms, including developer Wayforward going to Kickstarter at one point to keep things rolling. So, when Limited Run Games had an announcement about her series, I was intrigued.

After all, I’ve personally played two titles in her arsenal. One on the Wii U, and one on PC, and now, it appears I might play the newest entry that’s coming! That’s right! During a special event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Limited Run Games, they announced a new Shantae title!!!

So, yeah, that wasn’t on my bingo card for 2025! What will be interesting is to see how the teams come together to make this new title and what it will “evolve” from the past ones. If nothing else, this will give the Half-Genie Hero’s fanbase something to look forward to, as it won’t be another incredibly long wait for her to dance her way through the world. But wait! There’s more! After the announcement at LG3, series Director Matt Bozon went to the official Wayforward Twitter account to drop this confirmation video…and a little something extra:

It's official! As revealed today at LRG3, the next Shantae game is currently in development. We'll have more details in the future, but for now, please check out this statement from series director Matt Bozon. pic.twitter.com/7yQ1HAKfwA

So, it seems that both Shantae and Risky Boots are getting a bit of a visual overhaul for the upcoming entry! I’ll keep you all posted on the news for the 7th game when it arrives!
