How to Use a Torch in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

By Chris PenwellFebruary 19, 2025
You can use a torch in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Unfortunately, in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you’ll need a torch to get around each town at night as the guards are very suspicious of the people who dwell during late hours. For many first-time players, however, you may be scrambling to figure out how to turn on a torch in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Here’s how to do it.

Use the torch to calm nearby guards in a village in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

How to Equip a Torch in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Torches are very handy to have on your person at all times in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Whether you explore a dark area in the game or venture through a village at night (after changing the time), you’ll need it to light your way in this medieval adventure. In order to turn it on, have one equipped in your inventory page. Next, hold down the down D-Pad button on your controller to spark the flames. Now, you have a torch on your person. You can sheathe it back by holding the down D-Pad button again.

Thankfully, you can also use your one-handed weapons with the torch. Press the left D-Pad button and then press the cross/A button (depending on the console you’re using) to bring out your blade or axe, or whatever you’re utilizing as a weapon. You’ll be able to light the way and attack at the same time. Handy.

You can buy a torch from the merchant in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Where to Find a Torch

If you’re in need of a new torch (as they can wear down over time), you can purchase one from the local merchant. You can get them for 6.2 Groschen, which can be pretty cheap once you’re a few hours into the main campaign. If you’re in Troskowitz, the trader is located in the western section of the village. Look for a blue sign with a hand that’s holding out scales in front.

The more reputation you gain in the village, the cheaper the price will be. You can also sell what you’ve collected by switching the tab with the left trigger button (or L2). Select the items you want to sell and press the square (or X) button to get your money. You’ll gain reputation by dealing with the merchant. You can also get a spade from this place too.
