How to Get SDU Tokens in Borderlands 4

How to get SDU Tokens in Borderlands 4

SDU Tokens are a valuable resource in Borderlands 4 as they can increase the size of your storage and ammo with each weapon type. They even increase the size of your bank. However, they can be somewhat difficult to find in parts.

Here’s how to get SDU Tokens in Gearbox’s latest looter shooter RPG.

Vault Symbols

Vault Symbols in Borderlands 4 can be found all over the map.

Vault Symbols can be found throughout the world of Kairos. They’re fiery marks left on random walls and objects in the open landscape. The only reward you’ll get from finding them are SDU Tokens. In the Idolator’s Noose, you can spot a Vault Symbol west of the area. Look at the map, and you’ll find a Vault Symbol emblem, showing where it is. Press the triangle or Y button if you’re using a controller to set a pin on the map. After that, press Up on the D-Pad, and ECHO-4 will direct you on how to get to the pin.

You’ll know you’re going in the right direction if the mini-map on the top of the screen shows a Vault Symbol with a yellow box marking. If it shows a yellow arrow above the box, that means the Vault Symbol is above you and at a higher elevation. The Vault Symbol in the Eastern section of Idolator’s Noose is within a house above the action. You’ll need to go up a hill and then float to the roof.

Then, there’s a hole in the roof you can jump into, revealing the Vault Symbol in the right corner of the room. Interact with it, and you’ll get 5 SDU Tokens for finding a Vault Symbol. Once you’ve found it, it will show green on the map with a tick on it. There are 46 Vault Symbols to find in Borderlands 4.

Survivalist Cache and Electi Safes

The Survivalist Cache in Borderlands 4 gives SDU Tokens and guns.

Survivalist Caches are similar to SDU Tokens. You simply have to walk up to one and interact with it. It will offer a bunch of guns (including legendaries sometimes) and 10 SDU Tokens. Their symbols on the map are boxes that kind of look like a tape. Electi Safes are very similar to these caches as they give 10 SDU Tokens and require only an interaction. The only difference is that they’re in smaller boxes.

Propaganda Speaker

Propaganda Tower in Borderlands 4 has you hack and defeat waves.

Interact with the propaganda speaker in the open world. It is indicated by a speaker symbol on the map. After you interact with it, ECHO-4 will start hacking it, so you can turn it off. Waves of enemies will appear. Get ready to fight them off because if they get close to the robot, it will start getting scared and will stop the process. A number appears on the propaganda speaker, showing your progress. Once it hits 100, the speaker has been hacked, and you’ll get 20 SDU Tokens. There are 27 Propaganda Speakers to find in the open world.

Safehouses and Order Silos

Order Silos in Borderlands 4 give SDU Tokens after being captured.

After you unlock a safehouse as a fast travel point in Borderlands 4, you’ll get 40 SDU Tokens. You’ll just need to find the intel device and then the access point to make this an asset for the Vault Hunter you play as. Order Silos work the same way. You just need to interact with the access point.

Evocarium

Evocarium in Borderlands 4 has you find three orbs.

In certain locations of Kairos, you’ll need to activate an Evocarium and find three different yellow orbs to get SDU Tokens. The emblem on the world map looks like a flagpole or two guns next to each other.  They can be relatively difficult to find sometimes. Follow the light streams that go in three directions. Look above and below to find exactly where these orbs are. Once you’ve found one, go back to the main terminal. Using a sniper’s scope can help visualise where the next orb is if it’s far away. They’re usually on top of structures. Once you’ve found all three orbs, return to the main terminal and you’ll get 15 SDU Tokens and learn more about Nyriad.

Lost Capsule

These are capsules left in random spots on the world map. When you pick them up, you’ll need to transfer them to the nearest base. Don’t get in your vehicle, however, as you’ll drop the lost capsule. You’ll need to deliver it on foot.

Crawler

Crawlers are big contraptions that can be taken over by powering up the clamps. Skip through most of the enemies and get to the upper levels. Find the object Borderlands 4 is directing you towards it. Grab it with your slingshot and then throw it up to higher sections of the crawler. Then, once you reach the target destination, use your slingshot to pull out some of the infrastructure. You may also need to install a device to proceed to capture the Crawler. You’ll then get 40 SDU Tokens.

Drill Site

Drill Sites in Borderlands 4 give plenty of SDU Tokens.

These areas have you take down waves of enemies to gain 40 SDU Tokens. Their emblem looks like a tornado. It’s fairly simple to access and gain these tokens, even if there can be many foes in your path.

Auger Shrines

Pray to the Auger Shrine in Borderlands 4 after finishing a main quest.

First, you have to finish the Shadow of the Mountain main quest, which opens up after you defeat Idolator Sol. Once that’s done, you can pray to mechanical shrines to get a bunch of loot, but more importantly, they’ll give you 10 SDU Tokens to spend how you see fit. Simply head to one of these markers on the world map and then interact with it. Your character will pray to it. As the mechanism moves up, it will unleash many weapons, grenades, etc. You’ll be awarded the SDU Tokens.

Auger Mines

Auger Mines can give SDU Tokens after beating the boss in Borderlands 4

Similarly to Auger Shrines, you’ll have to finish the Shadow of the Mountain main quest to unlock the ability to enter Auger Mines. Otherwise, you’ll be locked out. These Auger Mine areas have a tough boss to take down before you can get the 40 SDU Tokens they provide. You may have to explore the area by platforming and going through enemies first. Make sure you’re well stocked with ammo and have the right weapons before jumping in.

Once you get enough storage, you should try to redeem some golden keys to get a better arsenal in Borderlands 4.
