It isn’t exactly a cheap investment to find a controller that works well with Nintendo Switch 2 and can function similarly to a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller. Luckily, EasySMX has a few different controllers to try to close that gap, with the one I will be looking at today, the EasySMX S10 Lite controller.

Opening The Box
Looking at the EasySMX S10 Lite controller’s box was very simple. It comes with a basic box with the controller, an instruction manual inside, and a USB-C to USB cord. It isn’t anything special, but it does get the job done. It is worth noting that the box had a slight dent on the top when I got it. This wasn’t the fault of the company or the box, but likely the shipping. It didn’t damage the controller or any of the contents inside.

On Nintendo Switch 2
The instruction manual gives you a small tutorial on setting it up on the Nintendo Switch 2. Ultimately, it’s pretty easy. Go to change grips or controller order in the Nintendo Switch settings. Then you have to make sure the toggle on the back is set to S. Hold the Home button, which is the bottom center right button. Then press L and R on the controller and let the Switch find it while the button in the center is blinking blue.
Once it is connected to Nintendo Switch 2, you can control everything with the controller. It is a solid implementation. There is a C button between the home button and the screenshot button, so you can use the Game Chat features. There was very little latency when I would play through a few maps of Dynasty Warriors: Origins on Nintendo Switch 2. That is a game that requires precise timing for parries and dodges. I had no trouble getting used to the controller. The buttons are very clicky. Even the shoulder buttons have a loud and satisfying click. They are also very responsive. The Hall Effect joysticks are also clicky when you press them in. The little edges surrounding the joysticks give you a bit of pushback when it goes too far, so you don’t hamstring it extremely hard.
One thing I was surprised about with a budget controller like this one is that it has gyro motion control, and it uses it for the Nintendo Switch 2. I tested it only briefly for Splatoon 3, but it worked well. I will admit I don’t use gyro controls often since I am used to just using the analog sticks.
The magnetic face plates come off rather easily. There is a little indent that you can put your fingers under and just pull up. Note that the face plates are a feature of the controller, but there are no custom magnetic face plates you can buy on the EasySMX website yet. So don’t take that quite as a win until there is something you can find for it.
One of the only negatives I would say is the D-pad. It is a bit too squishy. It being squishy leads to having the D-pad go slightly up or down while you want it to go only left or right. Which may not be a problem for most games, but fighters and 2D platformers will require precise D-pad inputs. So it might be a problem with players who want it for that. Though it can be a bit flimsy, it can be used to your advantage if you want to quickly alternate between left up and right up.

On PC
The EasySMX S10 Lite Controller is compatible with PC as well. It just requires you to toggle on back to the X mode. This enables the controller to be used as an X-input device, which is what the Xbox controllers generally get recognized as on PC. Then, like most other controllers, hold the home button for it to blink into Bluetooth discovery mode, or just attach it with the charging cord straight to the PC. The only weird thing about this mode is that the buttons will be all screwed up visually.
Since it is a Nintendo Switch 2 controller at the forefront, the EasySMX S10 Lite controller has button placements like it is a Switch 2 controller. The X input mode will act as if the A button is the B button and vice versa, since that is how the Xbox controller is laid out. If you are playing with the controller through muscle memory for an Xbox controller, you might not have a problem. If you are looking at the buttons to make sure you are pressing the correct buttons, then you will have a problem.
Even though the EasySMX S10 Lite Controller works on PC, I would recommend it more for use on Nintendo Switch 2. Which makes sense since that is the main use case for this controller. It is nice though to be able to bring it with you as the only controller you will need for use with a laptop, and your Nintendo Switch 2. Don’t need to bring two controllers for that.
Summary
The EasySMX S10 Lite controller is a solid option for use with a Nintendo Switch 2. It is the best-priced controller for that platform for its quality. The Outerhaven Productions has a discount code if you are in the market for one of these controllers, too. Go to the EasySMX website and add it to your cart, then use the discount code “ScottS10lite” for 15% off your purchase.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller is still probably the best controller for the Nintendo Switch 2, but the EasySMX S10 Lite controller is a solid grab for the price point. You can buy it on the EasySMX website. It is available right now.
