Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Drops Overview Trailer & Story Expansion Insight

If you don’t recall, when Square Enix made a remake of its 3rd Dragon Quest game and did so in the HD-2D style, it wasn’t just a huge hit; many saw it as a “revelation” of sorts. So, with two more games in the “trilogy” to remake, you can bet the publisher was excited. Just as important, though, was that the team was ready to expand the first two titles, which were originally for the SNES, and make the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake as grand as they could be, both in looks and in storytelling.

That last one is important, for in an interview with GamesRadar, producer Masaaki Hayasaka made it clear that while the team was faithful to the original RPGs, they added a LOT more content for players to enjoy:

“You can rest assured there’s a lot more content around this time. We really added a lot more to the story. The scenario has been fleshed out. I mean, if you look at it in terms of the word count, the amount of text in the game, the first two games – the original versions – were tens of thousands of words on their own. We’re up into the millions now for the remake.”

If you’re looking for even more “intrigue,” the producer said that there was a “big surprise” in the game that the team can’t wait for players to see. Apparently, this “new twist” was approved by the game’s original creator, Mr. Yuji, and it’ll come to light if you play all three games in the trilogy together.

As if all that wasn’t enough, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake got a gameplay overview trailer, too!
