Death Stranding Director’s Cut Headlines Xbox Game Pass Wave 2 For January 2026

By Sean GarmerJanuary 21, 2026
Death Stranding Director's Cut

Announced Today as part of a big week for the Xbox brand are the next set of games hitting Xbox Game Pass for the month of January 2026. This announcement comes just ahead of the Xbox Developer Direct happening tomorrow. Some interesting additions come into the service, with the headliner undoubtedly being Kojima Productions Death Stranding Director’s Cut. For those that want more action, there’s also a recent 2025 release in Ninja Gaiden Ragebound and the very popular 2024 title Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 as well.

Interestingly, there’s a major gap in releases here with the two aforementioned games and Roadcraft coming on January 21 and then there’s nothing added again until the next week. Could this be leaving the door open for what’s become a standard of the Xbox Developer Direct with a shadow drop? It certainly seems as though the space is being left open for one.

Speaking of shadow drops, this is how the most recent Devolver Digital title Quarantine Zone: The Last Check was added to PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on January 12. Could this be a new way to entice developers and publishers to get the best of both worlds, while still achieving launch day sales and then the extra boon from being discovered later in the day on Game Pass?

Also be sure to check out our review of today’s day one release the beautiful Metroidvania Mio: Memories in Orbit
