Bloober Team has announced that Cronos: The New Dawn has officially reached break-even, meaning the game has now made back its production costs just nine months after release. From here on out, every sale of the game puts the studio into profit, which is fantastic news, especially in this rotten age of gaming where developers are being axed left and right.
According to Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno, the studio always believed this moment would come, especially after the game was warmly received by both reviewers and players. He also called the nine-month break-even mark a success, given that Cronos: The New Dawn was the company’s most expensive and ambitious in-house production to date.
I’m very happy about this recent turn of events, as I thoroughly enjoyed the game. But given that Cronos: The New Dawn was both a new IP and going up against survival horror juggernauts like Resident Evil, I was worried that people wouldn’t give it a fair shake. So, I’m glad to see those worries were unwarranted.
And that’s not all, as Bloober Team also recently announced new DLC for the game, Cronos: Lazarus, which will explore the past of the Guardian, one of the most important characters in the original game. I’m being purposely vague here in case you haven’t played the title yet, because yeah, this is one of those games where going in blind helps.
