Cold Symmetry, the developer behind Mortal Shell and the upcoming Mortal Shell II, has shown off some gameplay footage of its unapologetic Soulslike title. This is the first time we’ve gotten to see it in action, and there’s a lot to be excited about, especially if you played the first game.
Check out the gameplay footage for yourself.
In addition to the gameplay, Cold Symmetry will be hosting an open beta, PC only, for Mortal Shell II, and to participate, all you have to do is head over to the official Mortal Shell website and sign-up.
A few years back, Cold Symmetry released Mortal Shell, a Soulslike with a few genuinely cool ideas. Given that the studio was made up of Dark Souls fans, it made sense that they’d take a swing at the genre so many other developers were chasing. Mortal Shell had its issues, but it had decent bones.
Now it’s back, and with lots of improvements; more locations, the removal of the terrible stamina system, the animations are much more fluid and my god, that combat looks very meaty. I can’t wait to spend hours navigating its world and trying to stay alive, as I slay every boss and find all those hidden shells all over again.
Mortal Shell II does not currently have a release date but is being developed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
