Meet Josée Anjou, the Tragic Guardian of the Sunken City in Code Vein II

By Keith MitchellNovember 21, 2025
CODE VEIN II – Josée Anjou Character Trailer

Bandai Namco has revealed a brand-new character trailer for Code Vein II, which officially introduces Josée Anjou, the Revenant who commands the Sunken City. Once a protector of humanity, Josée now shoulders a heavy burden after failing to stop a devastating Resurgence outbreak that wiped out countless lives. That failure fuels her every action, turning her into a relentless front-line defender determined to keep humanity alive at any cost.

Check out the trailer.

In this new trailer, titled Meet the Tragic Queen of Solitude, fans get a closer look at Josée’s role as both a guardian and a symbol of quiet suffering. She has constructed shelters throughout the Sunken City to protect the remaining humans, choosing to stand between them and the horrors of the wasteland. Her guilt shapes her identity, yet it also drives her strength, creating one of the series most emotionally charged characters to date.

On the battlefield, Josée is a powerhouse. She wields a massive two-handed sword designed to stagger and overpower enemies. Her “Hound” trait grants her increased resistance to interruptions during attacks, giving her an aggressive, unstoppable rhythm in combat. With her “Precision” support skill, she can more easily break enemy defenses, setting up devastating finishers. Her signature attack, “Unquenchable Flame,” unleashes sweeping pillars of fire that can engulf entire enemy groups.

Maybe it’s me, but doesn’t Josée Anjou sort of resemble Baikan, the SNK character that has been featured in both the Guilty Gear and Samurai Shodown games? Maybe it’s the red hair. Maybe it’s the eye patch.

Code Vein II - Doesn't she remind you of Baiken

Code Vein II releases on January 30, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
