One of the game series I enjoy heavily is BLUE REFLECTION. The first and second console games were underrated. Now there is a way to experience both those titles as well as some connective tissue games in the form of BLUE REFLECTION Quartet. KOEI TECMO America has unveiled a new trailer to celebrate the launch of this collection today.
BLUE REFLECTION Quartet will see fans reunite with the heroic RPG series, returning to the magical world of Reflectors and experiencing the bonds between students as they maneuver through challenges in their academic environment. In BLUE REFLECTION Quartet, players will rediscover the two BLUE REFLECTION console series games, a story scenario summarising the events of the 24-episode anime BLUE REFLECTION: RAY, and, for the first time, the PC and mobile-only title BLUE REFLECTION: SUN will be ported to console. Each title will benefit from features exclusive to their Quartet version.
Players will go back to where it all started in the Quartet version of 2017’s BLUE REFLECTION, which reintroduces students Hinako, Yuzuki, and Lime as they prepare to face an incoming threat to their world. Fans will enjoy experiencing the title’s atmospheric shimmering water, environments, and characters in high resolution, along with several features that were not included in the title’s original release, such as faster moving speed and auto-save.
Following the first title, an animated series, BLUE REFLECTION: RAY, aired in 2021. Players will return to the story of students Hiori and Ruka, following them as they recall their memories while collecting Memory Shards in order to delve deeper in to the story. BLUE REFLECTION Quartet also introduces new 3D models of the main characters alongside an extra short story that can be unlocked by gathering Memory Shards. Additionally, a prologue and epilogue will be added to tie the series’ titles together.
In BLUE REFLECTION Quartet, players will be able to experience the story of BLUE REFLECTION: SUN, on console for the first time. Fans will set out to protect a world on the verge of destruction with revitalized combat using the battle system from BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light. Furthermore, players can explore a newly created event for Chapter 24, unique conversations not featured in the original release, and a prologue and epilogue connecting this title to others in the series.
BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light, released in 2021, explores protagonist Ao Hoshizaki as she and her fellow students face their feelings while attempting to uncover lost memories and discover the truth of the strange world they have entered. In the Quartet version of the title, eight new battle party members from BLUE REFLECTION: RAY and BLUE REFLECTION: SUN will join the fight. Several quality-of-life features, such as faster movement speed and auto-save, have also been added. Furthermore, familiar faces Yuzuki and Lime from BLUE REFLECTION will be included in photo mode alongside other characters, enabling fans to take pictures of the whole cast.
BLUE REFLECTION Quartet also introduces a “Reference” database, allowing players to gain a deeper understanding of the world, as well as giving an insight into character relationships and world building elements. A selection of illustrations from Mel Kishida will also be available for viewing with the “Gallery” feature.
There is a review of the inclusions of the entire collection on the website that you can read. BLUE REFLECTION Quartet is available for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC via Steam. It will only include subtitled versions of the game, with Japanese being the only voice-over option. You can buy it on PlayAsia physically if you are fine with importing it from Japan.
