Art of Fighting Teaser Released But.. Why?

By Kevin KellyOctober 21, 2025
Art of Fighting teaser

SNK released an Art of Fighting teaser trailer today. In the trailer showed the tengu mask as well as a certain hand flipping a coin. Who could this be eluding to? Well, from the feels of it, it could mean one thing. The title that SNK put to the trailer is “Fans know what this means”.

As a fan of SNK, I feel as if I already know some of what this could mean even though this is cryptic. The animation does ring true to what Masami Obari has done previously for SNK through City of the Wolves recently. Perhaps there could be a connection to who’s next. And we only got 7 seconds.

The Tengu Mask could be a reference to Mr. Karate, the alter ego enforcer that is Takuma Sakazaki from the same series. Ryo dons the moniker in a few games outside of the Art of Fighting series.  The coin flip feels like a reference to Robert Garcia – the second protagonist of the Art of Fighting series and his victory pose. There could be many ways as to how this could play out.

SNK has reported to state that they are working on a new Art of Fighting game to coincide with Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. With the SNK Championships underway at Dreamhack Atlanta and the “everyone can take home something” Art of Fighting 3 tourney, anything is possible.

We could be seeing this title sooner than later. The series has yet to see a new one since the last sequel. This could also be a teaser for the road ahead in the City of the Wolves saga as Season 1 of the Fighter DLC is close to being done with only two characters left to be released – Chun-Li and Art of Fighting‘s original boss – Mr. Big.

We’ll have to stay tuned to see where this all goes.
