It’s been a long time coming, but Dotemu has officially confirmed via the Absolum Twitter account that cross-play is now live across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC versions of the game. Now players can finally team up with friends regardless of what platform they’re on, and that’s a big deal for a co-op-focused game like this.

Cross-play was one of the most requested features from day one. When Absolum launched back in October 2025, the omission was felt immediately by the community. Friends split across platforms had no clean way to play together, and while workarounds like Steam Remote Play existed, they were far from ideal. It was a gap that always felt at odds with a game built around cooperative brawling.
It’s better late than never, though, and with Xbox only having come to the party back in March, having full cross-play now means every platform is finally on equal footing.
For those who haven’t jumped in yet, here’s the short version of why this matters. Absolum is excellent and a must play. We awarded it a perfect 5 out of 5 in our review. We called it a must-play for fans of both the beat ’em up and roguelike genres, and noted that despite being Dotemu’s first original IP, it plays like a masterclass in design, one that kept us hooked even as it repeatedly kicked our teeth in. It even made our Top 10 Games of 2025 list, where we described it as the “modern peak of the beat ’em up.” Though we were frustrated with the lack of cross-play.
Cross-play gives Absolum a genuine shot in the arm. A game this good deserves the widest possible player pool, and now it has one. If you’ve been waiting for a reason to jump back in, or jump in for the first time, this is it.
Now, if we can only get some more narrative gameplay, I’ll be in heaven.
