Right now, the Pokemon franchise is on fire. On the Nintendo Switch, it basically moved 100 million software units on its own. The YouTube Channel, which features old episodes and movies of its beloved anime, has crossed a million subscribers. Then, the next big Nintendo Switch 2 game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, is expected to sell very well when it drops in October. Oh, and did I mention the crossover with CMLL? So, yeah, it’s doing great, and that makes it all the more interesting that certain “insiders” are spreading rumors that a new game from the franchise will be announced soon.
Allegedly, a Nintendo Direct might drop this week, and in it, two “insiders” are saying that a new Pokemon spinoff title will be announced:
Necrolipe and Pokémon Leaker Khu are teasing a Pokémon spinoff announcement for September.
Necrolipe believes it will happen at the rumored Nintendo Direct this week.

One of the ironies of all of this is that this could literally mean anything, as the Pokémon franchise has had TONS of spin-offs over the years, from Puzzle Leagues, to the Mystery Dungeon and Ranger franchises, the two-part Coliseum series on the GameCube, and so on. The Pokémon Company could literally do almost any kind of spinoff at this point and knows that, so long as it’s quality, it will sell.
Given the success the franchise had on the Switch, it’s totally understandable that the publisher would want nothing more than to load up the Switch 2 with as many games from its series as possible. However, as always, until this is confirmed, you should take it with a grain of salt. That goes double for the Nintendo Direct rumors.
