Splatoon 2 Takes Place 2 Years After Original Game

By Todd BlackFebruary 2, 2017
Splatoon 2

Splatoon was a game that shocked many when it released on the Wii U. It’s interesting take on “traditional” team shooting combat not only made gamers smile, but they came back for more. Given the sales of Splatoon were on par with Super Smash Bros., Mario, and more, we knew there was going to be a sequel. But what we didn’t know is that it’d be within the first six months (tentatively) of the Nintendo Switch’s reign. But it is! Long live Spaltoon 2.

The best part? It’s a true sequel! Not just a port like some people expected. In fact, not only will it be getting a plethora of new weapons and abilities for the Squidlings, we now know via Broken Joysticks that the game WILL once again have a single player mode. And apparently, it’ll “take place” 2 years after the events of the first game.

What does that mean? Well, a lot. It could mean that something new has come to mess with denizens of Inkopolis. Maybe the Octolings are back for some revenge, or something else exciting! The singleplaye mode may not have been the deepest thing, but, it did help teach new players (like me once upon a time) on how to best use your Squid abilities, as well as your weapons.

With Splatoon 2? It could be longer, more difficult, or just be something unique unto itself. Splatoon 2 is set to hit the Nintendo Switch this Summer.
