Video Games were being streamed from The White House today

By Karl SmartDecember 12, 2016

Today is a weird day. Today, Video Games and the celebrity players that compete with them are streaming from The White House. Yes, the same place where currently, Barack Obama runs the most powerful nation on the planet.

We’ve come a long way baby.

Just in case you want more about this. The event is a bid to raise awareness about the Affordable Care Act or “Obamacare”.

“Young adults had the highest uninsured rates before the Affordable Care Act and have seen the sharpest drop in uninsured rates since 2010,” Erik Martin, policy advisor for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, wrote in a blog post on Thursday.

“But millions of millennials remain uninsured, and many of those uninsured young adults could qualify for tax credits on the Health Insurance Marketplace to keep insurance affordable. In fact, most HealthCare.gov consumers can find a plan for under $75 a month, less than their cell phone bill.”

Twitch has 9.7 million daily active users and each person on average watches 106 minutes of video per day. This is a highly engaged community that the White House is hoping to attract.

As you can see, we have the likes of Street Fighter legend Justin Wong playing Street Fighter V against various opponents. There have been other games played too, but the stream was practically over when I was able to get my eyes on it, only catching the last fight between Justin Wong & Snake Eyes where Wong went 3-0. You can eventually watch the Video on Demand via Twitch.tv’s replay service at https://www.twitch.tv/getcovered
