Former Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Users Gain Consolation via Galaxy S7 Update

By Clinton Bowman-ChristieOctober 16, 2016

It’s more than official, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has crashed and burned…both literally and figuratively. After less than two months of life, Samsung’s flagship phablet has been discontinued, and a significant chunk of users are left in the dark. However, if you switched to another Samsung phone, such as the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, Samsung has given you a little bit of consolation going forward.

Users are reporting that Samsung has pushed a new update for the Always On Display, which brings a bevy of the Note 7’s features to the S7 and S7 Edge. It’s not the complete experience, due to lack of an S-Pen on the S7 and S7 Edge, and there are a few broken features, such as notification from the stock e-mail application not working.

Samsung seems to be making strides to appease former Note 7 users by making them feel at home with their new S7 and S7 Edge phones, as well as give a taste of the Note experience to those who have never owned a Galaxy Note 7. There isn’t much in the way of options for Samsung as they have lost one of their flagship devices in less than 2 months after it’s release. However, it opens up the opportunity for two things to happen: Samsung to make the S7 and S7 Edge more appealing or Google to kick the door wide open with the Pixel and Pixel XL.
