No Man’s Sky for PC gets a very special release edition for $150

By Keith MitchellMarch 3, 2016

While the PS4 verison of No Man’s Sky is getting it’s own unique release, which you can read about here, I’m more excited about the PC version. A limited release for the PC version can be yours for $150… now wait, before you write that off, check out what comes with it. no-mans-sky-explorers-edition-iam8bit

Limited to 10,000 copies, the No Man’s Sky Explorer’s Edition for PC is one of a kind. In addition to including a copy of the game, you’ll also get access to a special traveller’s pin, diorama display backdrop, a mystery item and lastly a 1:35 scale version of the ship that you’ll be piloting throughout the game. And more importantly is that the ship isn’t your typical CE fodder, nope. This baby is made out of cast metal, this is the real deal.

Limited Edition of 10,000
• PC game code (via Steam or GOG) – $60 value
• Hand-painted, Cast Metal Ship Replica (1:35 scale) w/ decals for customization – $125 value
• Hard-enamel Traveller Pin – $10 value
• Diorama Display Backdrop – $5 value
• Mystery Item (revealed at launch) – $10 value
• A Rad Box – priceless!
• Package Design by Austin James

Like all of iam8bit’s products, this is a lovingly crafted package, designed to evoke a sense of space nostalgia via the inclusion of a tin toy-style ship replica. We’ve spared no expense to achieve hyper-detail, constructing the ship from a high-quality metal cast and then hand-painting each with precision. And much like the game, this collectible allows for a personal touch, providing an array of decals that can be applied to the ship’s body.

Seriously, this isn’t your average, run-of-the-mill resin statue! It’s actual metal – involving a much more complex production process, harkening back as far as the 1900s (when tin toys were all the rage). Trust us, holding this cold, metal beauty in your hands is immensely satisfying. It’s a true labor of love.

If you want one of these, you’ll have to head over to Iam8bit.com and get your order in, since this CE isn’t available in stores. And since it is in fact a limited edition run, once it’s gone, well… it’s gone. Now how am I going to explain to my wife where that $150 disappeared to.

No Man’s Sky releases for PS4 and PC on June 21, 2016.
