Our Complete Soulslike Coverage

Soulslike games have become one of the most influential subgenres in modern action RPGs, blending punishing combat, stamina-based systems, environmental storytelling, and methodical boss encounters. Inspired by FromSoftware’s Dark Souls, the genre continues to evolve across console and PC.

At The Outerhaven, we regularly review and cover Soulslike titles across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Below is our complete coverage, organized by year.

What Defines a Soulslike?

Soulslike games typically feature stamina-based combat, high difficulty, interconnected world design, and deliberate boss encounters. While inspired by FromSoftware’s Dark Souls, modern Soulslikes continue to evolve with new mechanics and settings.

Soulslike Games We’ve Reviewed

Nioh 3 Review (PC)

Nioh 3 refines the series’ stance-based combat and delivers one of the strongest modern Soulslike experiences we’ve played.

Elden Ring Nightreign Review

Elden Ring Nightreign is the “greatest hits” album of FromSoftware games. With bosses from Dark Souls, builds inspired by Bloodborne and Sekiro, and the world of Elden Ring, it has something for every Soulslike fan.Elden Ring Nightreign is the “greatest hits” album of FromSoftware games. Lies Of P Review (PC)

From the stunning visuals and immersive sound design to the satisfying gameplay, Lies of P delivers an experience that’s both familiar and fresh.

Code Vein II Review (PS5)

Code Vein II delivers stylish combat, deep customization, and bold ideas, though performance issues and uneven design hold it back from true greatness.

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers Review (PC)

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers is a culturally rich Soulslike debut with strong potential that could evolve into a must-play action RPG with post-launch improvements.

The First Berserker: Khazan Review (PC)

The First Berserker: Khazan is a challenging action RPG featuring deep, customizable combat systems.

Remnant II Review (PC)

Gunfire Games has taken everything it learned with Remnant From the Ashes and expanded on it in such a massive way that we don’t think it can top it.

Death’s Door (PC)

Death’s Door is a cutesy, yet challenging isometric game that takes many influences from Dark Souls and The Legend of Zelda, and shines just as brightly.

Valor Mortis preview (PC)

During PAX West 2025, The Outerhaven received some hands-on with an upcoming first-person perspective Soulslike from the developers of Ghostrunner, One More Level.

Another Crab’s Treasure Review (PC)

Another Crab’s Treasure offers a more approachable entry point into the Soulslike genre while still delivering satisfying combat depth.

Mortal Shell Review

Mortal Shell stands out as a focused and atmospheric Soulslike experience with enough charm and identity to separate itself from the crowd.

Nioh Review (PS4)

While Nioh draws heavily from Dark Souls, Koei Tecmo has provided more than enough features to put Nioh on the same level as Dark Souls. Plenty of action, an engaging combat system that encourages you to develop your own style of play and its own charming yet deadly world.

The Surge (PC)

The Surge takes the Soulslike formula and drops it into a gritty sci-fi world, letting you dismember foes and battle punishing bosses. While the structure feels familiar, it manages to carve out a distinct identity of its own.

Dolmen (PC)

Dolmen is an interesting Soulslike experience that is troubled by clunky combat, and an outdated UI, which hurts the game’s chances of standing out in a crowded market with games that does what it does, but better.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Review (PC)

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a fantastic spin-off of the Nioh series. While it feels like Team Ninja had a checklist of features to borrow from other games, in the end, everything feels fresh and exciting.

Looking for more Soulslike coverage? We regularly review and preview upcoming entries in the genre across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Check back for updates as new titles are released.
