If all the goodies you get for preordering or purchasing Fatal Frame II Remake early aren’t enough, Koei Tecmo has sweetened the deal. The remake of the classic horror game will see a demo arrive in March. And what’s more, Fatal Frame II Remake has announced a collaboration with Silent Hill.
In a social media post, Koei Tecmo shared news of a collaboration between Silent Hill f and Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake. This partnership will consist of free downloadable costumes. Fatal Frame II Remake has two protagonists, sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura. Presumably, the costumes will allow them to dress up as Hinako Shimizu, the protagonist of Silent Hill f.
It’s pretty rare for two major horror franchises to crossover like this. Even if it’s just free DLC costumes, hopefully this could allow for more partnerships down the line.
As for the demo, that will arrive on March 5th, a week before the game itself debuts. So for those of you who hope to get a taste of the survival horror game early, you’ll still have to wait a bit. On the bright side, save data will carry over to the full game. So you won’t have to play the demo section twice if you want to dive in early.
Lastly, the announcement trailer gives a little more info about the “Holding Hands with Mayu” mechanic. Previously, it just seemed like a neat little flavor mechanic. Mio and Mayu get to hold hands, how sweet. However, it will actually allow you to restore health. So there’s a gameplay component as well. The trailer also goes into more detail on the Camera Obscura, which will come into play for puzzles and combat.
Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake will arrive for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. After the March 5th demo, you may jump into the full haunting on March 12th, 2026.
