Baldur’s Gate 3 Won’t Be On Nintendo Switch 2

This comes straight from the top!

One of the things we recently covered in the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast is that with 2026 being the “first full calendar year” for the Nintendo Switch 2, more 3rd-party titles will come to the console in either port or exclusive fashion. Many gamers have already made requests of certain companies to bring key titles to the Switch 2 in one form or another, with many already confirming that they will happen or could happen. However, if you were hoping that Larian Studios would bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to the console, we have some bad news for you.

The team, including CEO Swen Vincke, did a Reddit AMA to answer all manner of questions from fans, and they answered a LOT. One of those questions was the following:

Baldur’s Gate 3 for Switch 2? Is it even possible?

A good question, and one Swen himself answered with:

We would have loved to but it’s wasn’t our decision to make.

That’s pretty definitive, wouldn’t you say? Now, he didn’t elaborate about “whose decision it was” to try and bring the game to the new console, but that does seem to put the kabosh on things with a BG3 port.

Now, that’s not to say that Larian won’t bring other games to the Nintendo Switch 2, as they recently put out Divinity: Original Sin 2 for the console. Plus, they are working on a new game, and that could make it to the console later on. We’ll just have to wait and see.
