Key Donkey Kong Bananza Director Praises Game…Because His Kids Love It

We love it, too!
By Todd BlackAugust 22, 2025
Donkey Kong Bananza, Nintendo Music,

When a game is really good, you almost never have to “reach” too far to talk about what made it good. In the case of Donkey Kong Bananza, there are numerous things to praise (as I noted in my review) about it, and many do consider it a serious contender for “Game of the Year.”

However, it should be noted that it wasn’t just the fans who were having a blast wrecking everything in sight with DK and Pauline; the kids of those who actually developed the game had a fun time, too. In a special interview with NDW, several members of the dev team talked about what it was like developing the game, and the title’s sound director had a fun story to share:

Nintendo Sound Director Naoto Kubo is happy he made Donkey Kong Bananza because his kids love it: "I have two elementary school-aged children, and they are both crazy about the game. They even imitate Donkey Kong's movements when they go outside. I'm so glad I made it."www.ndw.jp/dkbananza-in…

That alone should be enough reason to love a game, because it’s resonating with kids! Indeed, Donkey Kong Bananza is a title that can resonate with many because of its great look, fun gameplay loop, its love of history and nostalgia, and just being a joy to play!

So, if you haven’t played it on Nintendo Switch 2 yet, you should change that!
