Has The Next Nintendo Direct Gotten A Release Window?

Keep setting the tone!
By Todd BlackMay 24, 2025
Nintendo Switch Nintendo Direct Mini

The words “Nintendo Direct” often invoke a sense of joy or dread in the gaming community. That might sound odd, but it’s a fact of life when you realize the epic highs we’ve had via them, and the soul-crushing lows that have emerged when the Directs didn’t come for a long time, or, we had a “mini” or “partner’s showcase” version where nothing of consequence was shown. The first official Direct for the Nintendo Switch 2 happened in early April, and it highlighted a few key games that would start off the new console’s life cycle. Yet, fans wanted more.

It was clear that the first showcase was more about detailing the console than the games that were coming in the period following release. So, many hope that the next one will be more game-focused. To that end, a new rumor states that the next Nintendo Direct will happen either on the launch week of the Switch 2 or the week right after:

A basic statement, we grant you, but it is one that many feel is “accurate,” especially since Nintendo will want to keep the hype going with its console by showcasing to fans that there is a LOT coming out in the first year of its life.

Furthermore, we need more insights into some of the games that were announced during the first Direct, like Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment, Kirby Air Riders, and, of course, Donkey Kong Bananza, which drops in July. Rumors like these don’t always pan out, but we’ll find out rather soon if one’s close!
