The Beginning After the End Comic to End in Roughly 12 Chapters

By Josh PiedraMay 7, 2025

On April 25, the author of The Beginning After the End, TurtleMe, announced that he is attempting to end the series on Chapter 529, giving the reason that 529 (or 5/29) is his birthday as well as the main character, Arthur’s, birthday. He stated that he was planning for that ending since the previous volume.

This post was made on Reddit; however, despite the explanation, many fans assumed that the series was canceled or was ending due to the poor anime adaptation. Their reason to believe this is that the post was made on April 11, 2025, just two weeks beyond the anime’s start date after it had received a ton of backlash for its sub-par animation, earning itself the unfortunate nickname of The Slideshow After the End.

While that may or may not be the case, it is not uncommon for a series that had been running as long as The Beginning After the End has to end shortly after the anime began. In fact, many series had ended prior to the anime coming out, some have also ended while the anime aired, and a few have even timed the ending of the source material with the final episode of the anime so that fans could enjoy the ending either in print or in animated form.

Occurrences like this are more common than one might think and while Reddit and the internet believe the series is ending due to the backlash received from the anime adaptation, given TurtleMe’s statement, it seems as if he put a lot of thought into how to end the series and, therefore, may not be the case.
