Crafting is a big part of Eternal Strands, and to create gear, you’ll need various resources and materials. One essential material you’ll need early on to craft powerful items is called Kalnsteel. This blue, three-star-rated item can be found near the start of the game, though not through conventional methods.
No need to worry, though—we’ll break down how to acquire this precious metal so you can get a head start on crafting powerful gear.
Where to get your hands on Kalnsteel
Believe it or not, Kalnsteel is right under your nose and it’s thanks to this ore in the screenshot below that allows you to get your hands on some. Except, there are some things you need to do first.
First, head to this location. This has an abundance of the ore you’ll need to mine for the Kalnsteel at the start of the game. Also, it respawns when you head back to your camp, so you can keep farming it easier. There are other locations, but this one is closer to the camper and the keygate once you unlock it.
When you first hit the ore, it will only yield Steel—a useful material, but not Kalnsteel.
To turn this ore into Kalnsteel, you’ll need to temper it with fire. Here’s how:
- Use exploding orbs to ignite the ore. It will take at least two explosions to properly temper it.
- Once it’s on fire, let the ore sit and temper. You can wait for it to break apart on its own, sling rocks into it, or give the flames a boost and smash it yourself. Don’t worry—the flames won’t cause much damage.
And there you have it! With these steps, you’ll have Kalnsteel in no time, giving you a solid advantage in crafting early-game gear.
