Annapurna and Remedy Collaborate to Co-Finance Control 2 and Expand Alan Wake to Film and TV

Creating a AAA game today is expensive, and not all companies have the financial power of giants like Sony or Microsoft. That’s why Remedy Entertainment has announced a strategic partnership with Annapurna Interactive to co-finance Control 2 and explore bringing the Control and Alan Wake universes to film and television. This collaboration aims to help Remedy expand its storytelling to new media while retaining creative control over its gaming projects.

In a statement on the official Remedy website, Thomas Puha, Remedy’s communications director, expressed excitement about the partnership. “Above all, it means Remedy is able to make Control 2 exactly the game we want it to be, while we now also have an incredible partner to extend our IPs to other mediums,” Puha said. Despite Annapurna’s involvement, Remedy will still be publishing Control 2 on its own.

Sam Lake, the creative director of Remedy, echoed this enthusiasm: “I’m absolutely thrilled by this opportunity to expand the story of Alan Wake and our whole Remedy Connected Universe to mediums beyond games. I trust Annapurna are the perfect partner for us to make this dream come true.”

The move marks a significant step for both companies as they look to innovate and explore new ways of storytelling across different media. Annapurna’s Hector Sanchez highlighted the unique nature of this collaboration, stating, “This deal with Remedy isn’t just about adapting great games, it’s about breaking new ground in how companies can collaborate.”
