DeathSprint 66 Gets a Release Date, Playtests are Ongoing

The wait is over, folks! The bloodsport arcade circuit racer that I’ve been raving about ever since I got some hands-on during the Summer Game Fest, DeathSprint 66, now has an official release date. Secret Mode, the game’s publisher, has announced that DeathSprint 66 will be hitting PC (Steam) on September 12, 2024.

To celebrate the announcement, players can get a head start with the official DEATHSPRINT 66 Steam playtest, which kicks off today! Spaces for the playtest are limited, so aspiring Clone Jockeys are encouraged to register their interest on the game’s Steam page as soon as possible.

Playtest Schedule:

  • Thursday, August 8: 8:00am PT / 11:00am ET until 12:00pm PT / 3:00pm ET
  • Friday, August 9: 6:00am PT / 9:00am ET until 10:00am PT / 1:00pm ET

In the dystopian future of 2066, things have turned for the worse in many ways. So, to relieve the stress and frustration, the world has taken to pitting contestants called Clones and pit against each other on some pretty devious tracks. Inspirations behind the game, including racing games of the yesteryears, such as Wipeout, F-Zero, Super Mario Kart, and even Team Sonic Racing. If you’re not racing to come in first, you’re watching out for other players who want you dead. Power-ups, track hazards, and some devious tracks all stand in your way to victory.

While DeathSprint 66 is initially releasing on PC, the developers have already mentioned it also want to get the game onto consoles. For now, we’ll have to wait to see how DeathSprint 66 does on PC and if that ultimately decides the fate of the game.

DeathSprint 66 will be released on September 12, 2014, for PC (Steam). As for me, I can’t wait to dive back into the game.
