From Friday 24th to Sunday 26th March, Game On Cancer®, an initiative of Australian charity Cure Cancer, is holding its inaugural Game On Cancer Day charity drive weekend – a new annual, special event to raise money for vital cancer research.

This year, Game On Cancer Day will feature dozens of creators including some of Australia’s favourites, such as GTA-creator TGG, Aliythia, EmilleJ, GeekGG, Magnetbrain and Fangetta. Each streamer will be going live on their personal channels over the 3 days and fundraising via Tiltify.

Additionally, an online auction for Game On Cancer Day weekend offers several incredible prizes from Game On Cancer®’s partners, including:

  • TCL 75-inch C735 QLED 4K Android TV
  • Kings of Neon Call of Duty Cartel GHOST LED Neon Light
  • Signed merchandise from UFC Middleweight Rob Whittaker
  • Four (4x) AFL Medallion Club Tickets to Western Bulldogs V Hawthorn Saturday 29th April 4:25PM Marvel Stadium
  • Five (5x) ‘Four N Twenty’ Prize Packs featuring Bluetooth speaker, cooler bag, socks and beanie

For this inaugural event, all of the donations will support the work of Dr. Chen Li, one of Cure Cancer’s 2023 research grant recipients, who is conducting his research at Monash University in Melbourne.

Dr. Li’s work is focused on investigating new ways to treat triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), a highly aggressive form of breast cancer that does not respond to conventional therapies. Dr Chen Li told us, “It is my privilege to be involved in this ever-first ‘Game On Cancer Day’ charity drive organised by Cure Cancer Australia. I am extremely grateful for the contributions from our generous donors, allowing me to conduct exciting research on triple-negative breast cancer. I sincerely hope this event is a fun learning opportunity that provides crucial support needed for high-quality research.”

This year’s goal is to raise $100,000, which will help fund Dr. Li’s research project for a full year.

To date, Cure Cancer’s Game On Cancer® community, one of the leading charity initiatives in the Australian gaming industry, has raised over $750,000 AUD for cancer research. Previous Game On Cancer® fundraisers have included some of Australia’s largest names in gaming like Loserfruit, IAmFallFromGrace, Bajo and AussieAntics.

Cure Cancer is dedicated entirely to funding early career researchers and to date has provided over 550 research grants to young scientists with ground-breaking innovative ideas, many who have gone on to become leaders in cancer research globally.

Game On Cancer® is supported by many ambassadors across the gaming industry including hilarious, gaming community channel, Back Pocket, Australia’s favourite cooking Twitch channel MissMollyMakes, and popular gaming personality and DLC podcast host Jeff Cannata.

Viewers can show their support by following Game On Cancer® on Twitter, joining them on Discord, and most importantly tuning into Game On Cancer Day and donating.
