New Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Info Has Been Released

We finally have some news on the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam anime, called Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury. It wasn’t that long ago that Bandai revealed this anime in September 2021. However, since then we hadn’t heard much regarding the show. So, I’m really excited about this reveal.

Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch From Mercury will air in October 2022, with a new episode being released every Sunday. However, prior to the anime being shown, a one-shot episode called “Prologue” will be released this Summer 2022 and will serve as a primer or introduction to this new Gundam story and universe.

Witch from Mercury Prologue

We don’t know anything about the story or plot as of yet, but we do know a bit about several of the Gundams and Mobile Suits that will make an appearance. Those are Gundam Aerial, Gundam Lfrith, and the Beguir-Beu, which appears to be a mobile suit as it doesn’t bear the Gundam moniker. With Gundam Aerial being the protagonist suit, who by the way is the first female protagonist of a mainline Gundam story — according to Gundam. Though that’s not technically correct, as there have several female protagonists throughout the Gundam universe. I mean, did they forget Christina Mackenzie, the pilot from one of my favorite Gundam shows, Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket?

If you’re a Gunpla fan, like me, you’ll be happy to know that 1/144th models of Gundam Aerial, Gundam Lfrith, and Beguir-Beu, have also been revealed. Currently, there are no pricing or availability dates for these. Bandai Hobby Division has stated they’ll share more details on these models soon.

Lastly, here’s the official poster for Mobile Suit Gundam – Witch from Mercury.
