Metroid Dread Continues To Sell Well In The UK

By Todd BlackMarch 20, 2022
Metroid Dread Review

Metroid Dread was both one of the biggest surprises of last year, as well as one of the year’s best games by many critics. So much so it got nominated for Game of the Year by many. But just being critically adored isn’t enough, the fans had to be willing to buy it, and they did. By the end of 2021, the game had sold well over 2 million units, and though we haven’t gotten an update on things as a whole as late, one analyst has provided an interesting tidbit for the UK.

Metroid Dread is now the third biggest Metroid game in UK history, behind Metroid Prime and Prime 3. It’s already the UK’s best-selling 2D Metroid. This doesn’t include digital sales, so it’s quite likely it’s now, or will soon be, the No.1 Metroid overall (GfK data)

The numbers of Dread were already looking fantastic, but with this, and other inclinations about the title, Metroid Dread might soon be, if it’s not already, the best-selling title in the franchise of all time. This obviously puts pressure on Metroid Prime 4…should it ever come out.
