Dying Light 2 Could Take Up To 500 Hours To Finish

By Keith MitchellJanuary 8, 2022
Dying Light 2 Stay Human

Recently, the Dying Light 2 Twitter account tweeted out that it could take up to 500 to complete the game. Since then, the internet has been engaged in discourse over that tweet. Most of which has been claiming that no one has that much time for just a single game.

To fully complete Dying Light 2 Stay Human, you'll need at least 500 hours—almost as long as it would take to walk from Warsaw to Madrid!#DyingLight2 #stayhuman pic.twitter.com/Sk3KFpRJoA

However, most didn’t thoroughly read and understand that tweet. It clearly states that to “fully complete Dying Light 2 Stay Human, you’ll need at least 500 hours”. Meaning, that if you want to do everything there is to do – the main quests, the side quests, and everything in between, that you’ll need at 500 hours.

Though, even then, I think that saying 500 hours is an overstatement. There have been countless games that have some outrageous completion time, quoted from the devs. Only to have people smash those times and go on to world records. I’m confident that Dying Light 2 will take between 20-25 hours to complete the story line. We’ll find out once the game gets released next month.

Update: Sure enough, the Twitter account posted an update stating that the 500 hours is for maxing out the game. And just as I mentioned, Techland has clarified that this 500-hour assumption is meant for doing everything; Main and side quests, plus lots of exploration.

UPDATE:
500 hours is related to maxing out the game – finishing all the quests, endings, and exploring every part of the world, but a regular player should finish the story + side quests and do quite a lot of exploring in less than 100 hours, so don't worry! 🥰 https://t.co/4R641zkLpg

So there you have it. We won’t ultimately need to spend 500 hours in the game. But let’s be honest, most of us will be exploring as much of the world as we can. And for side quests, we all get suckered into completing them, regardless of the game. We’re likely to spend more time than we expect in Dying Light 2. Whether that adds up to a couple of hundred hours is entirely up to you.

Funny enough, we constantly see people complain that games aren’t long enough, given how much they cost. Yet, somehow having a 500-hour game is too much for some. But what do you think? Is 500 hours too much, or just right? Sound off in the comments!

Dying Light 2 releases on February 4th, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
