Initial Numbers For Nintendo Switch OLED Sales In US Revealed

Nintendo Switch OLED Model

For a LONG time now, there have been rumors about a “Nintendo Switch Pro”, and yet, this year, we got the release of the Nintendo Switch OLED. An upgrade on the basic Switch for sure, but not a full-on one in terms of graphics resolution and power output. So how it would do sales-wise was always going to be of interest to some.

Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser confirmed to The Verge that the Switch family of systems sold 710,000 units in October, and 314,000 of those were for the new Nintendo Switch OLED model.

To be fair, 300,000+ for a slightly upgraded console is strong. It’s not as strong as the Nintendo Switch Lite that came out in 2019, but it’s still strong. And it might be consistent as time goes on. This is no doubt why Nintendo has said they’re not going to focus on the OLED solely in terms of game production because they know that of their tens of millions of buyers, only a small fraction would have it.
