Stargirl Season 2 Trailer Shows Off New Characters, And A Shocking Arrival

By Todd BlackJune 14, 2021
Stargirl Season 2

When Stargirl was announced for the now-defunct DC Universe platform is was very much viewed as the “pet-project” of Geoff Johns given his connection to the franchise (he created the character in honor of his sister). It soon moved to the CW and became enough of a hit to warrant a second season. One that promised to expand things in a big way. Now, the first trailer for Stargirl Season 2 has revealed just how big it is going to get.

Following the events of the Season 1 finale where much fo the Injustice Society of America was killed, captured or forced to flee, Courtney is struggling with her purpose when she’s not Stargirl. Fortunately for her, some new faces are going to show up, including the villainous Shade. But in the trailer we also get at that Thunderbolt (with Jakeem Thunder no doubt in tow) and a shock to all with the arrival of Alan Scott’s daughter, Jade.

Why is this last arrival so shocking? Well, Green Lanterns in the CW-verse and before it have been…tricky to do in live-action. In Smallville they only teased it, the Corps as a whole has been referenced throughout the Arrowverse complete with John Diggle/Stewart getting the ring in the series finale of Arrow. But…no true Lantern has shown up. Until now, hopefully.

We’ll find out more when Stargirl Season 2 arrives on the CW on August 10th.
