May PS Plus Games Include ‘Battlefield V’

By Andrew AgressApril 29, 2021
Battlefield V

May is just around the corner, and that means new games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. This month we have a list with variety, featuring shooting, racing, and survival games. PS Plus subscribers can download Battlefield V, Stranded Deep, and Wreckfest: Drive Hard, Die Last starting on May 4th. Wreckfest arrives on PlayStation 5, while the other two are PS4 games.

On a side note, May 4th would be the perfect time for a Star Wars game, but we already got Star Wars: Battlefront II a year ago. This time we’ll get EA DICE’s other online multiplayer war game. And if you haven’t downloading last month’s gory games yet, do so before they leave on May 3rd.

Now let’s see what’s in store for next month’s games.

The Battlefield series began with World War II shooter Battlefield 1942, and here we see EA DICE return to those roots with Battlefield V. While the game didn’t have a ton of content at launch, since then it’s had several free updates including War in the Pacific, bringing the battles of the Pacific Theater into the game. With maps featuring locations across the globe, players can take on roles in online multiplayer, co-op, or single-player campaigns.

You’re on a plane that suddenly crashes in the middle of the ocean. The only surviver, you swim to an island close by, hoping to find shelter. No, this isn’t BioShock. It’s more like Castaway, but playable (if you look closely, you can even spot Tom Hanks’ volleyball friend Wilson in the trailer). With Stranded Deep, Beam Team brings us an intricate desert island survival game, as players have to hunt, craft tools, and build shelters in order to stay alive.

For PlayStation 5 we have Wreckfest, a fast-paced racing game in which smashing your opponents’ cars is not only permissible, but encouraged (They probably have great insurance). In Challenge modes, you can drive everything from a truck to a crop harvester, and duke it out online with up to 24 players.

PlayStation Plus subscribers can download Battlefield V, Stranded Deep, and Wreckfest from May 4th until May 31st, according to the PlayStation Blog. While Wreckfest officially comes out on June 1st, through PS Plus you can download it for PlayStation 5 a month early.
