Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity takes place 100-years before The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Yes, Zelda is playable!

Right out of nowhere, Nintendo once again drops a bombshell into the laps of the gaming community. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, a new entry in the Hyrule Warriors series, will bridge the gap and allow us to relive the events leading up to that world-shattering event. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will take 100-years before the events of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Through your time in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you heard about this tragedy that affected the world, the Great Calamity. But you never saw everything and how it transpired, yet it was always on everyone’s minds. This is where Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity comes in as we’ll finally find out what events caused this Great Calamity to occur.

While the Omega Team is being developed, Nintendo’s own Zelda team has been working directly with Omega to ensure this is an authentic Legend of Zelda experience. Meaning Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will draw heavily from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, not just in its visual style but also including several fan favorites from the title that will be playable in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity; including Link and Zelda.

This is what happens when you count Nintendo out. They go and announce something so epic that event most skeptic Nintendo fans have to take notice.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on November 20th, 2020.
