Xbox Series X confirmed for a November release, despite Halo Infinite being delayed

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox Series X, the company’s next-generation console (well, one of them anyway) will see a November 2020 release date.

This came alongside the news that Halo Infinite would be delayed until 2020. This delay is something I consider to be a major blow to the initial sales of the Xbox Series X, but that remains to be seen. Xbox, while initially wasn’t phased by regarding the backlash that the Halo Infinite reveal had generated. Eventually decided that the game wasn’t going to be ready and needed additional work. A decision I agree with.

Of course, Microsoft is also trying to calm down any doom and gloom surrounding the delay of Halo Infinite and assuring us that Xbox will have plenty for us to play, come to the launch of the console. And while this is true, thanks to Xbox Game Pass and the ability to play Xbox One titles that are optimized for the Xbox Series X with HDR and other improvements. Yet, I wonder if that’s enough.

Thankfully, the head honcho of Xbox, Phil Spencer, had stated that the company is working on getting some “BIG” Xbox Game Pass announcements to make up for Halo Infinite. Here’s to hoping that whatever it is, it’s enough to keep everyone interested in the console launch.

When I purchase a new generation of gaming console, I don’t want to play older games on it. I want to play new games. I want to have the justification as to why I spent my hard-earned cash on this new system the promises to usher in the next generation of gaming. Now, I love what Microsoft and Xbox have done with Xbox Game Pass, I’ve said that time and time again. But this look, with not having anything that screams “Must Buy” when the Xbox Series X is released, well that’s troublesome.

We’ll have to see how well the console sales when November 2020 rolls around.
