Evil Dead’s Ash possibly leaked by WB for Mortal Kombat 11

By Karl SmartMarch 25, 2020

One of the biggest rumors to come from Mortal Kombat 11’s DLC characters was the datamined entry for “Ash” (along with confirmed DLC characters Nightwolf, Shang Tsung, Joker, Terminator, Sindel & Spawn; and also yet to be confirmed characters Fujin & Sheeva), giving people the idea that the hero from the Evil Dead series, Ash Williams, is going to make his way into the fighting game franchise. This also means that the “holy trinity” of slashers would have been included in the Mortal Kombat games (The other two being Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street in Mortal Kombat, and Jason Vorhees in Mortal Kombat X).

In a recent email sent to many media outlets to announce that the Hellspawn from Image comics Spawn series, Spawn himself, is available for all copies of Mortal Kombat 11 thus completing the Kombat DLC pack… or did it? As you can see in the image above, there is an extra line talking about “Ash” and “The Evil Dead” and who owns the property.

“ASH” character from “ARMY OF DARKNESS” is licensed from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc.ARMY OF DARKNESS TM & © 1993 Orion Pictures Corporation. © 2019 year of development-distribution. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Now Ash has been nothing but a rumor for a long long time, including the man behind the character, Bruce Campbell, denying outright that he is not involved with Mortal Kombat and anything to do with the Ash character appearing in the game, complete with a tweet on his official account stating exactly that

Could this leak be accidental confirmation of not only Ash making his way into Mortal Kombat 11 as a headline DLC character, but also the existence of a Kombat DLC Pack 2 for Mortal Kombat 11? Or is this a really early April Fools joke from NeitherRealm/Warner Brothers? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, you can play as Ash Williams in the 4 vs 1 survival game Dead by Daylight, which is currently available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. You can also watch the adventures of Ash in the very good TV series ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ through Stars, some streaming services and by buying it on DVD or Bluray. Mortal Kombat 11 is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC with Kombat Pack 1 complete and also available now for an extra charge or via the deluxe editions of the game.
