Resident Evil 3 Safe Rooms are Still Safe

New details have emerged about the remake “Resident Evil 3,”  following a livestream that showcased 30 minutes of gameplay. One particular detail that popped up grew a large amount of attention regarding “safe rooms.” Specifically, the fact that it seemed like the in-game stalker enemy “Nemesis” could invade these safe havens to pursue Jill throughout the city.

Resident Evil safe rooms are usually isolated rooms, meaning enemies cannot normally enter these areas. They also come with a typewriter to save one’s game and storage box items. Making them area’s the players will visit frequently.

The rumor came from Xbox Magazine, where the player of the demo claimed that he was attacked in a room with a typewriter inside. Meaning that even players couldn’t even save their game without needing to watch their back. Which would be a major departure from every other game in the series thus far.

However, it seems like those rumors were unfounded as Capcom officially declared that Nemesis cannot enter safe rooms, claiming that the room the player was in was not a safe room, even if it had a typewriter in it.

This is similar to an instance in the remake of Resident Evil 2, where Mr.X could enter the lobby of the Raccoon City Police Department, where a typewriter was also stored. Since that lobby is the central hub that connects the entire first level, it’s easy to see why the developers would allow Mr.X and zombies to enter that room.

Personally, I’d hope to see Nemesis’ A.I be more similar to that of Jack Baker rather than Mr.X from the previous remake. I know that’s not exactly a popular opinion but getting stonewalled half the time because of him made Mr.X more of a time sink than the terrifying force of destruction he was intended as.

Resident Evil 3 releases April 3rd, 2020, for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Are you excited? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.
