Looks like EA doesn’t want Epic Game’s Fornite taking all the Esports glory and has announced their own gaming invitational. They’ve just announced the Apex Legends Preseason Invitational that will take place from September 13th – 15th, 2019.
This event will be held in Kraków, Poland and will pit 80 teams from across the globe in a bracketed tournament. With $500,000 USD up for grabs in a prize pool. This tournament will be a double-elimination tournament, meaning it will have a winner and a losers bracket.
When we started the EA Competitive Gaming Division, we had a vision to Make Stars of All Our Players as we build an entertainment spectacle that captivates millions of players and spectators,” said Todd Sitrin, SVP and GM of the EA Competitive Gaming Division. “Today we officially expand EA Competitive Gaming through the addition of Apex Legends, owner of one of the biggest game launches in history that continues to be powered today by a passionate global community. The Apex Legends Preseason Invitational is the key next step in our esports journey.

We continue to explore all the entertaining ways both players and spectators can experience Apex Legends and look forward to bringing this event to life.
EA is currently taking sign-ups for anyone who wants to compete at this event by emailing them at ApexLegendsPreseason@ea.com. Details on how you can attendee the event as a spectator will be released soon.
