Capcom Reports Some Mighty Strong Sales, Mega Man 11 And Monster Hunter World Leading The Charge

While Capcom has faced a number of critics in the past few years, they have proven they know how to turn our frowns upside down. Sure, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite wasn’t the game many of us were looking forward to. When it came to Street Fighter V, they managed to turn it around. Well, partially anyway. Then when it came to Monster Hunter World and Mega Man 11, they pretty much knocked it out of that part. And due to this, Capcom has been able to rake in the cash, so to speak.

In their recent financial report, the company has seen a 92% increase in operating revenue of the past year. Driving those figures is the 10 million shipped units of Monster Hunter World. A title that took the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and more recently the PC, by storm. It’s easily one of my favorite games from the company and there’s little reason why – but if you need to know why, then check out my review of it here. However, it wasn’t just one game leading the charge.

Capcom’s fiscal 2018 report also shows that Mega Man 11, a title that many thought would bomb, showed some impressive sales as well.  Not just on one platform either, but across the PS4, Xbox One and PC as well. Sadly, they didn’t break down which system managed to sell more copies. We also quite enjoyed it, so much that we reviewed the game and scored it a 4.5/5. The remaster of Onimusha, which was released towards the end of 2018, also sold extremely well.

Things are definitely looking good for the company, which is great news for us all. A few of us can remember when Capcom was struggling for cash, which led to the speculation that numerous companies were looking to scope them up.

Not to mention we can expect those figures to continue thanks to the superb sales of Resident Evil 2 Remake. A remaster of a classic and one that has gone on to sell over 3 million units in its first week. We also can’t forget about the upcoming Devil May Cry V. A title that fans of the series have literally been waiting for, well for years. I definitely see that game surpassing their initial sales expectations. We also can’t forget about the upcoming Monster Hunter World expansion, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Fans of the series, including myself, are already counting down the days for the release date. As well as several upcoming Resident Evil ports coming to the Switch, Capcom is about to be swimming in the money.

Now, if they’d only tell us what exactly is going on with Deep Down. We haven’t heard a peep regarding Capcom’s ill-fated dungeon-crawling title in years. Which is a shame as I was really looking forward to it. Hopefully, the title will resurface at this year’s E3, Gamescom or TGS 2019.
