Dragon Ball Super

Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball series has been a part of pop culture in the United States since its inception. Many of us grew up with the show and for a lot of people, it was their gateway into anime. Apparently, all of that work he put in that got us to where we are paid off as Dragon Ball Super: Broly became the 3rd most successful anime film in U.S. history.

As of Sunday, January 27, Dragon Ball Super: Broly has earned a total of $28,958,823 in the U.S. and Canada with $3.6 million of that coming from between Friday and Sunday by itself. The film has also sold 3.2 million tickets, ranking it #3 behind Pokemon: The First Movie and Pokemon 2000: The Movie. As far as actual movie ranking in the U.S., Dragon Ball Super: Broly ranked #10 over the weekend.

Outside of the United States, the movie has earned an equivalent to $65 million with $34 million coming from its native country of Japan. All total, the film has earned $98 million worldwide.
