Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword NOT Being Brought To Switch

By Todd BlackNovember 28, 2018
Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword

Well, so much for that rumor. Over the weekend, a special Legend of Zelda concert played in Japan, and during it, Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma went on stage and noted that what “fans wanted” was Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword on Nintendo Switch, which got a big pop from the crowd, and spread like wildfire on the internet to make many wonder if Nintendo really was going to bring the beloved Zelda title to the Switch.

It made sense, there have been a lot of ports coming to the Switch, and many Zelda games have gotten upgrades and remaster treatments recently. But, Eurogamer actually reached out to Nintendo about this rumor/statement and heard this in reply:

“At this time we have no plans to release The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword on Nintendo Switch”

While “at this time” obviously doesn’t mean forever, it is a bit of a downer. After all, many people really liked Skyward Sword, and putting it on the Nintendo Switch would easily be another million seller for the system, which dominated the recent Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.

But for whatever reason, they’re not game for it, at least not yet. It might be because they’re working on the sequel to Breath of the Wild, or maybe they just don’t think it’ll be a good fit on the Switch for some reason. Who knows, but we can at least this rumor to rest, albeit sadly.
