Red Hook Studios announced on their website today that Darkest Dungeon will be released for digital purchase on the Nintendo Switch on January 18th, 2018. The turn-based gothic RPG tasks players with managing the physical and mental health of an ever-expanding lineup of adventurers as they delve into procedurally-generated dungeons.
Darkest Dungeon was brought to fruition through a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2014, when 9,639 backers raised $313,337, well over its initial $75,000 goal. Just last year, the game received the “Radiant Update”, which addressed various issues based on player feedback, and added a ‘Radiant Mode’ that made leveling easier and reduced the cost of upgrades. Then, in June, “The Crimson Court” was released, which was the first DLC expansion to add new environments, enemies, boss fights, and other assorted gameplay elements. An additional character class called “The Shieldbreaker” was added this past October, and one more expansion called “The Color of Madness” is due out in Q2 2018. According to Red Hook Studios, both of the currently-available DLCs will be available for purchase when the main game hits the eShop next week, and “The Color of Madness” will also be released for the Nintendo Switch along with other platforms.

- “The Shieldbreaker” – $3.99 USD
