Ron Howard Reveals Han Solo Film’s Official Title

By Sara Roncero-MenendezOctober 17, 2017

The Han Solo film has had a weird production so far: a change in directors, rumors that Lucasfilm is not happy with the star, and weirdest of all, a lack of an official title. Now, however, the anti-climatic moment we’ve all been waiting for is here. Ron Howard, the film’s current director, revealed in a short video the name of the film to be Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Solo: A Star Wars Story features Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, and Woodly Harrelson as Han’s mentor, Beckett. Emilia Clarke, Thanidw Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge will also be in the film, but their roles are currently unknown. Principal photography on the film has also wrapped, which means we are one step closer to getting to see what this new Han Solo story is all about. Despite the directorial change, it looks like the movie is going to remain on schedule for is May 2018 release.

Still no word about that Obi-Wan movie however, but if this spin-off goes well, who knows whose story we might get next – Boba Fett, Yoda, even Jar Jar Binks. Well, maybe not that last one.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will premiere in theaters on May 25, 2018.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
