SNES Classic Edition To Ship More, Fix Problems From NES Classic

By Todd BlackJune 26, 2017
SNES Classic Edition, NES Classic Edition

If you haven’t heard, Nintendo has confirmed that the SNES Classic Edition is indeed coming, and it’s going to be awesome. However, some fans are legitimately worried about whether this new version of the classic console will have the same mistakes that the NES Classic Edition had.

There were two major problems with the NES Classic, one was that its controller cord length were WAY too short. Then, infamously, the console only shipped 2.3 million units, even though there were potentially MILLIONS more who would want to buy it.

Well, IGN asked Nintendo about these issues and whether the SNES Classic Edition would have them as well. In their reply, they noted that the controller cords would be about 5 feet long, “which is about 2 ft. longer than the cord on the NES Classic Controller.”

So that’s one problem solved. The other is the shipment issue, this is a little more vague, as they stated that they  “will produce significantly more units of Super NES Classic Edition than we did of NES Classic Edition.” What does “significantly” mean? No clue. But there is a chance for bad things to happen, as they further elaborated on their shipping schedule and stated:

“Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition is currently planned to ship from Sept. 29 until the end of calendar year 2017. At this time, we have nothing to announce regarding any possible shipments beyond this year.”

Hmm….that could be a problem. We’ll just have to see how it all plays out. The SNES Classic Edition arrives September 29th.
