WWE 2K25 first entrance & cross-gen changes

By Karl SmartFebruary 4, 2025
WWE 2K25

2K Games has begun its slow drip feed of entrances for the upcoming WWE 2K25, releasing on March 14.

The Final Boss appears in WWE 2K25

Starting things out is the “Final Boss of WWE”, The Rock. For those of you who love watching over a minute of a screen flashing lightning before getting the iconic “If ya smell!” music that The Rock has had since turning heel in 1998, then this entrance will give you the goosebumps that The Rock feels when he knows Triple H is cutting the check backstage when he appears on screen. You can watch the trailer below.

While you are distracted by the not-too-bad-looking video of The Rock, who hasn’t changed his entrance style in over 20 years, pay no attention to the fact that 2K Games has made one major change to WWE 2K25.

2K Games uses ‘The Island’ to stop PC modders and protect profits

WWE 2K25

First appearing as a leak on The Pro Wrestling Shoot YouTube channel, it seems that some content creators were flown out to the Royal Rumble to play an early build of the game. One of the creators, who is not named at this time, was able to find out from a 2K Games rep that because of ‘The Island’, the WWE version of ‘The City’ from NBA 2K25, the great cross-generation Community Creations that was a feature of WWE 2K24 and WWE 2K23 are no longer going to be available

This means that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S owners are not going to be able to share their created wrestlers with PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC players. There was a statement, considered only a rumor at this point in time, that appeared on the WWEGames subreddit stating that this was going to happen due to the nature of the lower-end consoles and PCs…

WWE 2K25 PC modders hurt by changes

WWE 2K25

The inclusion of PC in this lockout of cross-generation sharing of Community Creations is a weird one unless you understand that 2K Games is going to put a heavy focus on ‘The Island’ and ‘MyFaction’, two modes that feature a lot of micro-transactions. In WWE 2K24, a creator by the name of WhatsTheStatus was temporarily banned from the game due to his ability to extract and modify the game files to create versions of ‘Persona cards’, rare cards in MyFaction that added extra wrestlers to the roster or updated their costumes, that were uploaded for free to the Community Creations section of the game for people to download.

2K Games reversed its decision to ban WhatsTheStatus after a huge online backlash, but it seems that 2K Games has found a way to keep people like WhatsTheStatus from doing the same thing again with WWE 2K25. Will this stop the Community from using the official images to create free versions of the persona cards? Probably not. However, this is not a great sign from 2K Games that WWE 2K25 is going to be a game for the players rather than for the payers.

WWE 2K25 releases on March 14, 2025, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. You can wishlist the game now on Steam, or pre-order any one of the three editions via Xbox and PlayStation Stores.
