Pokemon TCG Pocket Backlash Leads To Shifts In Trading Feature

By Todd BlackFebruary 3, 2025
Pokemon TCG Pocket

The Pokemon TCG Pocket title has been doing really well since its launch in late October, with very few setbacks. However, one big setback happened last week when it dropped its first trading feature in the game. As we covered on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast, it was anything but “user-friendly,” and it caused some serious backlash within the community. It got so bad that some people were threatening to leave the game straight up if it wasn’t fixed. Naturally, that prompted a response from the team behind the title, who posted the following message on Twitter:

It’s interesting that they’re trying to frame it as “Oh, we were just trying to make things tougher for bots” when it was clear that the methods within the trading feature were focused on getting even more money out of people via microtransactions. Regardless, things are being fixed. How quickly they’ll be fixed and whether they’ll live up to player expectations/hopes of how trading SHOULD go in Pokemon TCG Pocket remains to be seen.
